Did you know that the skin is the largest organ in the human body?  The skin protects against heat, injury, infection, and sunlight.  Summer is a great time to have fun in the sun.  It is also a time to take precautions to avoid sunburns, which can increase your risk of skin cancer. 

Prevention and the best ways to lower skin cancer risk:

• Seek shade from UV rays, especially during the midday hors of 10 am to 4 pm.
• Cover up to protect exposed skin.
• Wear a hat with a wide brim.
• Use sunglasses that block UVA and UVB rays.
• Rub on sunscreen of at least SPF 15 or higher and both UVA and UVB protection.
• Reapply sunscreen every two hours.
